Meet Classroom Teacher Laura Gannon
Hello, my name is Laura Gannon.
I am originally from England and moved out to Australia with my family 15 years ago. I have been teaching in local primary schools for the last 13 years. In that time, I have taught all year levels from Prep – Year 6 and have held positions of leadership such as Religious Education Assistant Leader and whole school Literacy Leader. I love working with children and am very passionate about creating a positive learning environment where children feel happy, safe and ready to learn! Literacy is a big passion of mine and I greatly enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for reading and writing with my students.
For me, the best part of being a teacher is all about the strong and lasting relationships made with the children, families and staff in the school community. It brings me great joy and excitement to be a part of the foundation team at Holy Cross where together, we can help our children flourish and reach their full potential, both socially and academically.
My husband is also a primary school teacher and we have two children in Grade 4 and Grade 2. They, along with our cheeky little dog, Belle, keep life very busy and interesting! Outside of school, you will most likely find me relaxing with a good book or binge-watching the latest ‘must see’ TV series! I love spending time with close friends and my extended family. I should mention at this point that I have an identical twin sister who is also a teacher in the local area. I feel I have to warn people just in case you see her around in the community and stop for a chat- it can get a bit confusing at times! (We’re used to it and don’t mind a bit! J)
I am so looking forward to meeting you all very soon!
