Holy Cross principal reveals new logo to foundation families

At a morning tea with foundation families, Principal Mark Miatello unveiled the new Holy Cross Catholic primary school logo and colours for the first time.

Future students and their families enjoyed Holy Cross cookies with an edible logo in the colours of purple, grey and green as the school celebrated another important milestone ahead of its opening for the start of the 2022 school year.

Principal Mark said the three core elements of the logo – a heart, cross and hands – represented the Holy Cross motto of Love, Hope and Unity. The cross is synonymous with the Catholic faith and is the greatest symbol of Christ’s love.

“I think the logo is very successful in representing the key messages of the cross, as well as the hills represented through the heart in the logo being unique to the area of Mickleham.  It represents how we will all be journeying together at Holy Cross Mickleham,” Mark said.

“Our hero colour will be purple as purple is a regal colour and is the colour of Christ’s passion.  A very significant colour in the life of the church.  The Grey represents the ash with which Catholic’s mark themselves with the cross during the season of lent, and green is the colour of hope.”

Mark was pleased to be able to reveal the logo on the last day of term two, after spending the term meeting hundreds of families at his “Meet the Principal” sessions, where he has been sharing the school vision, masterplan and his approaches to teaching and learning.

“There has been amazing enrolment interest for Holy Cross, not only for the Prep Year but across all levels as well.  Families have been telling me how happy they are to have a new schooling option available to the community,” Mark said.

While Holy Cross will be available to all Catholic families in the area, there are also places available to non-Catholic families who are wanting a Catholic Education and are supportive of the ethos of the school.

Despite the challenges presented by Covid restrictions, everything at the school is on schedule for its opening on the first school day of 2022. The framework of the building is in place and the roof of the school will be installed shortly. Mark is also in discussions with playground manufacturers about the new playground facilities that will be included in stage one.

Mark said that in addition to running more “Meet the Principal” sessions, he will be kept busy in term three recruiting the great teachers who will work with him to realise their vision for the students of Holy Cross. He is also currently in the process of finalising the appointment of a school office manager.

Any family interested in enrolling at Holy Cross should sign up at the website or follow the Holy Cross Facebook page where new “Meet the Principal” sessions will be advertised in early term three.
