Students from Holy Cross primary school this week revealed the new uniform that they will wear when their new school opens next year.
It was a proud day for Principal Mark Miatello who said the uniform reveal was another important milestone in the journey of building a new school from the ground up.
“So much work goes into building a new school from the actual construction of the facilities, to the hiring of the teachers, curriculum design and the design of the uniform, so its great to be able to reveal something tangible to our students and their families,” Mr Miatello said.
The uniform was based on the school colours of purple with grey and green and was designed with input from some Holy Cross foundation families.
“Our hero colour will be purple as purple is a regal colour and is the colour of Christ’s passion. A very significant colour in the life of the church. The Grey represents the ash with which Catholic’s mark themselves with the cross during the season of lent, and green is the colour of hope,” Mr Miatello said.
“We are so pleased with how the uniform has come up and we know the students will wear it with great pride as play their role as foundation students in building the history of Holy Cross.”
The leadership of Holy Cross has finished recruiting all of its teachers and they have all been brought together recently for a planning day ahead of welcoming students to the new school.
Mr Miatello said there has been huge demand for enrolments at Holy Cross with a wait list for places in the three prep classes. The schools will also open with students in all other classes from one to six.
“We have secured a before and after school care provider so that will be a great service to families.”
“We also had our first orientation with our preps this week at our host school Oscar Romero. After so much work in planning for the school to open, seeing the students come together made it all the more real. It was a great pleasure and honour.”
“We will also be providing online orientation sessions for all the other grades and their teachers are really looking forward to that,” Mr Miatello said.
Holy Cross is located at 2-14 Carlingford Road, Mickleham, within the Merrifield estate.
